Steve Gilliard, 1964-2007

It is with tremendous sadness that we must convey the news that Steve Gilliard, editor and publisher of The News Blog, passed away June 2, 2007. He was 42.

To those who have come to trust The News Blog and its insightful, brash and unapologetic editorial tone, we have Steve to thank from the bottom of our hearts. Steve helped lead many discussions that mattered to all of us, and he tackled subjects and interest categories where others feared to tread.

Please keep Steve's friends and family in your thoughts and prayers.

Steve meant so much to us.

We will miss him terribly.

kim: "Jeff Gannon Redux"

it captions itself, doesn't it?

THANKS to kim who submitted the following piece with links - THANKS KIM!

This has been making its way around the various blogs. The gist of it
is that a 36-year-old Columbia University student and USMC reservists
have been making appearances on "The O'Reilly Factor" and "Hannity and
Colmes" complaining about how "radical anti-military students" have
been harassing him. Well, he has a very interesting past.

Apparently he has a past as a gay porn star known as Rod Majors who
made appearances in such films as "Jawbreaker", "Donkey Dick", and
"Glory Holes of Fame 3". This is a repeat of the Jeff Gannon debacle.

Why are some gays reaching out to the same right-wingers like Ann
Coulter, who have proven themselves to be homophobes by making public
anti-gay remarks? This is just like having an African-American trying
to become friendly with the Ku Klux Klan. I hate to say this but the
right wing is NOT a friend of the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered
community because no matter how friendly a non-straight person tries to
be with the right, the right wing will always reject that person
because the right wing is dominated by homophobes.
