Steve Gilliard, 1964-2007
It is with tremendous sadness that we must convey
the news that Steve Gilliard, editor and publisher of The News Blog,
passed away June 2, 2007. He was 42.
To those who have come to trust
The News Blog and its insightful, brash and unapologetic editorial
tone, we have Steve to thank from the bottom of our hearts. Steve helped
lead many discussions that mattered to all of us, and he tackled subjects
and interest categories where others feared to tread.
Please keep Steve's friends and family in your
thoughts and prayers.
Steve meant so much to us.
We will miss him terribly.

Gracchus: "Try this for 'Wearing,' Laura"

Shorter Stoner Laura: Thank god we don't have to see this stuff on TV
Thanks to the mighty TIBERIUS GRACCHUS for this fine takedown of Paxilaura - THANKS GRACCHUS!
Larry King, concerned about the effect of Iraq on his interviewee, throws Laura Bush one of his patented softballs, to which she answers:
"Of course it's wearing, worrying. There's no doubt about it, and I understand how the American people feel and that they feel like things aren't going like we want them to there."
Oh, the pain, the PAIN! Poor Laura, whacked out on Xanax, all worn down and worried as her daughters serve their country by partying it up with Argentine gigolos.
Yes, she understands. But of course, Laura knows where the blame truly belongs:
"Many parts of Iraq are stable now. But, of course, what we see on television is the one bombing a day that discourages everybody."
Translation: "Oh dear, that awful liberal media, aiding and abetting those tiresome suicide bombers. You excluded, of course, Larry darling..."
